Saturated Fat is Now Declared SAFE!

Posted by Kevin Brown on January 14, 2010

True Super-Food Saturated Fat Begins its Restoration to its Rightful Place of Prominence in our Diet!

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has just published a paper on the above.

This is big news as the authors found “NO SIGNIFICANT EVIDENCE FOR CONCLUDING THAT DIETARY SATURATED FAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH AN INCREASED RISK OF CHD (coronary heart disease) or CVD (cardiovascular disease).”

This was based on a meta-analysis of 21 large prospective epidemiologic studies, including Framingham, Honolulu heart Study, and Nurses’ Health Study.)

What is even more interesting is that one of the authors, Ronald Krauss MD, has an interesting bio as follows:

Dr Krauss served as Senior Advisor to the National Cholesterol Education Program, and was a member of the Macronutrient Panel of the Dietary Reference Intake Committee of the Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences. He was Chair of the American Heart Association (AHA) Nutrition Committee and of the Research Committee of the AHA Western States Affiliate, and is currently a member of the AHA National Board of Directors as well as the National Spokespersons Panel. He is also founder and immediate past Chair of the AHA Council on Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Metabolism.

Dr Krauss has received the AHA Scientific Councils Distinguished Achievement Award, and the Special Recognition Award from the AHA Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology. Dr Krauss has been a member of the editorial boards of several journals, including the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Vascular Pharmacology, and Preventive Cardiology, and has been Associate Editor of the Journal of Lipid Research. He has published more than 300 research articles and reviews and is currently Principal Investigator of two large research programs: “Institute for Genetics and Nutrition” and “Pharmacogenetics and Risk of Cardiovascular Disease.”

Thanks to Pam for this, I would like to add that saturated fat is not only safe, it is the foundation of good health! It is not only safe to eat real butter, but it is extremely healthy! This is still considered a great triumph, in the world of health mis-information!

Dangers of GMO corn

Posted by Annette Presley on January 14, 2010

Genetically modified foods have not been proven safe and have been linked to toxic and allergic reactions, sterile and dead livestock and organ damage. Here is an article exposing the danger to organs. http://news.yahoo.com/s/huffpost/20100112/cm_huffpost/420365

The foods most likely to be genetically modified are soy, corn, cottonseed and canola. Some zucchini is genetically modified and Hawaiian papaya and there is a push to genetically modify sugar beets.

Here are three ways to avoid the most common GMO foods:

1. Avoid processed food.
2. Buy 100% organic food. It is currently illegal for organic food to contain GMOs.
3. If you decide to buy non-organic, processed food, make sure it says “No GMOs”.
