Why are beliefs so important in our thinking and our ability to change?

In the enormously complicated world of healthy eating, a well founded belief system is critical when it comes to deciding what to eat, what not to eat, what is healthy and what isn’t. Imagine a world where everyone knows what is right to eat and always makes good choices. The Garden of Eden is the classic example of human beings and their belief system as it relates to food. God had made a commandment that all the fruit of the trees were good and healthy to be eaten and we could decide which fruits to eat, how often, how much. Adam and Eve were given only one restriction, in which they could not eat of the tree of good and evil, because if they did, they would surely die!
The Devil came to them as a serpent to try to trick them into eating the forbidden fruit. If he could successfully entice them, he would by right of conquest rule over man and in turn the world. Understanding his protocol is an excellent way to understand the same attacks to our belief systems that occur today as we try to make right decisions about food.
It is almost unbelievable that man could take the command of God, who was providing nothing but good to them, loving them and sustaining them, and forsake the clear message that eating this will cause your death! Even more incredible is the way Satan changed the belief system of man to make right wrong and wrong right! Let’s analyze this event, and we will learn great truth!
First we see that the serpent was the most cunning of all the creatures, and he started his crafty plot with a question
(`Is it true that God hath said, Ye do not eat of every tree of the garden?’)
This question is gauged to tell how strongly Eve’s understanding and belief system are in relation to this command! Eve then answers and says
(And the woman saith unto the serpent, `Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we do eat, and of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden God hath said, Ye do not eat of it, nor touch it, lest ye die.’)
Eve has not answered perfectly in that we have no record of the “don’t touch” statement from God; this emboldens the Adversary to quickly pounce upon the confusion detected in Eve by adding even more deceptive statements.
(And the serpent saith unto the woman, `Ye shall not surely die, for God doth know that in the day of you’re eating of it — your eyes have been opened, and ye have been as God, knowing good and evil.’)
Pride is now used to break down the belief system of Eve, after all- you shall be like God! Now Eve thinks in her heart
(And the woman seeth that the tree [is] good for food and that it [is] pleasant to the eyes, and the tree is desirable to make [one] wise, and she taketh of its fruit and eateth, and giveth also to her husband with her, and he doth eat )
Now the goal
is accomplished for the Devil, he has broken down the belief system of Adam and Eve, and destroyed right and wrong as it relates to food!
How uncanny it is, that the same plays are being used today by unscrupulous people to trick families into eating clearly unhealthy foods by overturning their belief systems and transplanting good for evil.
The first parallel is the need for conquest, in that food manufactures can control the world if they control the food supply, just as Satan needed control, so the Big Agriculture as well as Big Pharma has a huge need to be like God and tell us what is right and wrong concerning food. This keeps the population Sick, Fat and Confused, and gargantuan sums of monies rolling in to their coffers!
Just as God, who is our ultimate parent was telling us what we should and should not eat for our own good because He loved us, so our parents would tell their children what was good to eat from generation to generation because they loved them. And just as Adam and Eve had their belief system upended so modern man does not get nutritional advice from their parents any more but from very crafty merchandisers who use medical professionals (Doctors), scientists, celebrities, advertisements, and media news stories which are nothing more than infomercials for their masters, the fake food and pharmaceutical industry.
The knockout punch is delivered once again by pride, as those who are “In The Know” eat artificial foods with such names as Healthy Choice, Smart Snacks, Wise Choice, etc. If you want to be smart, eat fake food, it’s the Smart Choice! Our belief in God has been destroyed to a great extent in the United States today, and displaced with a trust in scientists and doctors. Our belief in families (an infrastructure also set up by God) has also been damaged to a high degree in that even if we have a normal family structure, we do not trust the nutritional advice of those who love us, but of those that shamefully use us till we get sick or die!
Adam and Eve should have waited and asked God for guidance and clarification about this all important move, but they disregarded the truly wise one. Likewise we should seek wisdom from our ancestors about traditional diets and trust in their wisdom because they loved us and want only the best for us.
