Local vs. Federal Government

This is noteworthy:

I have reported earlier that sheriffs in New Mexico are threatening to arrest federal agents.

NewsWithViews.com
I have reported earlier that sheriffs in New Mexico are threatening to arrest federal agents if they attempt to enforce unconstitutional federal acts in contravention of state law.
The even better news is that sheriffs in other states are doing the same. Sheriff Brad Rogers of Elkhart County, Indiana has told Food and Drug Administration agents they will be arrested if they go on Amish farmer David Hochstetler’s land. Having falsely alleged that raw, unpasteurized milk sold by Hochstetler had caused several cases of food poisoning, the FDA filed a complaint in federal court to support their attack on the farmer.
I have consumed raw milk for years and can affirm that it is not only safe, but much healthier than pasteurized milk.
The threat of incarceration led the feds to withdraw their complaint against Hochstetler. This was even after US Department of Justice attorney Ross Goldstein emailed the Sheriff that he would be arrested if he protected Hochstetler. When Sheriff Rogers refused to back down, the FDA cried uncle.
Rogers’s communication to the feds seemed to have been quite convincing: “Any further attempts to inspect this farm without a warrant signed by a local judge, based on probable cause, will result in Federal inspectors’ removal or arrest for trespassing by my officers or I.” The feds have gotten used to acting without due process — in this case, that means not bothering to get a search warrant.
Rogers’ campaign website listed his number one objective as “Upholding the Constitution.” He is also concerned about the heart condition of his inmates and is determined to help “Provide Hope to Change a Heart.” Under that header he says, “The Elkhart County jail has 74 church services a month and allows unprecedented access to ministry volunteers. Not only can we impact inmates for the here and now, but for eternity.”
Sheriff Rogers requires his deputies to take three, two-day classes on the Constitution (at a tuition rate of $125 per person).
Rogers is not alone in his love for the Constitution. Ellis County, Texas Sheriff Johnny Brown has stated that he would resist any effort by the federal government to confiscate firearms in his county.
Sheriff Joe Baca in Sierra County, California told his county commission that he will not enforce road closures on Bureau of Land Management and Gila National Forest Lands.
Sheriff Gil Gilbertson of Josephine County, Oregon has told the Forest Service that he will protect those using the forest in his county. He has written a short treatise entitled, “Unraveling Federal Jurisdiction within a State.” It is actually a scholarly piece based on citations from the Constitution, court cases and statutes and concludes that the Forest Service has no authority in any county.
Siskiyou County, California Sheriff Jon Lopey has said: “I have told federal and state officials over and over that, yes, we want to preserve the environment, but you care more about the fish, frogs, trees and birds than you do about the human race. When will you start to balance your decisions to the needs of the people?…We are right now in a fight for our survival.” Lopey spearheaded a coalition of eight sheriffs calling themselves: “Defend Rural America.”
In the days after Hurricane Katrina, power was out for days. Food and medicine were about to be lost. So Sheriff Billy McGee of Forrest County, Mississippi — a Democrat — took action when he realized that a federal shipment of six trucks of ice bound for Hattiesburg turned out to be only four. McGee went in search of the other two and found them being guarded by some Army reservists who possessed bureaucratic mindsets.
McGee took steps to secure the ice, but was told he was not authorized to take the vehicles. When a reservist would not get off one of the trucks, McGee had him handcuffed. The ice was delivered where it was needed in Hattiesburg, explaining why McGee is also known as The Ice Man.
Not surprisingly, the feds have brought suit against the Sheriff in federal court. Perhaps McGee will arrest any marshals seeking to interfere with the duties of a peace officer.
It is encouraging that men of integrity, who understand that the sheriff is the top law enforcement officer in his county, have been elected in counties around the country. We should be looking for more who fit this description.
Please let me know if you are aware of any constitutional sheriffs, and email me their names and stories at ldpratt@gunowners.org.

Just Water?

Posted by Janet Demeter on April 6, 2011

Just Water?

I’ve been taking an unexpected journey on the healing path.  A few years ago, a woman suggested I check out Kangen water and I didn’t because I got the sense from this person that she was just trying to recruit me.  So, I made a mental note but moved on.  After all, I’d found a natural, whole food supplement that had greatly improved the quality of my life, was finally prescription-free, and I had been learning about the drawbacks of drinking too much water.  Real food, purposeful fasting, and proper supplementation seemed to be the most important building blocks in my new foundation of good health.  Surely I didn’t have to worry about proper hydration or detoxification and healing.  Surely I was already learning about these things, I thought.  I had no idea!

Well, my husband started bringing this kangen water home with him and my reaction was, “Hey I want to try it too!”  He told me to expect detoxification and to drink it consistently.  Little did I know that a few months later I would find myself at the gym without my water.  At the time I thought I’d probably break-down and drink some water there.  Uh-uh.  Out of the question!  I was also driving 50 miles round trip twice a week to get enough for us and a friend of mine who was recovering from a fight with cancer.

Kangen is a Japanese word that means “return to source”.  It is not just ionized and alkaline, but the molecules are microclustered (about 6 together instead of 2 or 3 times that with tap or bottled waters) to actually penetrate the cell membranes to cleanse and hydrate properly.  Another positive attribute is it’s extremely high anti-oxidant value upon drawing the water.  So why was I personally going to all this effort to drink it?  Well, the water was the only thing I changed in my diet and eating habits.  The result for me personally has been(over 7-8 months) a continuing cleansing and detoxification that goes through stages—I’m still going through it, but the most astonishing thing has been that I almost never got sick through cold and flu season with 2 small children.  I’ve heard many remarkable, nearly miraculous healing stories, but for me this was the real point where I could not deny an enormous benefit.  My very expensive supplement goes twice as far, as well, insofar as its effectiveness and necessary daily amount are concerned.  So, right there it’s saved me $150 a month, which to me is neither here nor there where my health is concerned.  I feel a clarity of mind and spirit which I haven’t felt before.

I got this water for free.  Enagic is the company that makes the machines that work the magic.  Yes, there are ionizers that are ½ as much money but you cannot clean them and they usually need replacement after 2 years, whereas Enagic has been making these machines for over 30 years and the machines last from 15-25 years if you take care of them properly.  Another bit of mis-information I had was that you have to spend $4000 to get a machine.  Well, we got our water for free for months before we decided to buy one, and the machines start at $1280 and go up to, for the large-capacity unit for restaurants and spas, $5900.  That’s a lot of surgical-grade platinum, though!  The company offers generous financing so the price is really not that enormous of an issue.  Each machine is hand made by one technician in the Osaka factory.  There are no outsourced materials or parts, either.  You get what you pay for.  It’s for your health.  A cheap imitation can actually be dangerous—and then you’re still out a lot of money!

While I was getting the water from my friends I went to a demonstration to learn more.  This is very important—in fact it’s where I gained access to a wealth of information, medical, historical, and scientific that I would not have otherwise known.  As always, with your health, it’s important to be as well-informed as possible.  When I could actually see the properties of this water demonstrated before me, and the properties of other waters and also soda, I was not only amazed but I could understand and confirm my actual experiences with it.  It was helpful to be able to ask questions of other people who had been drinking it for a long time.

I am reporting about this because I didn’t realize that I was not properly hydrated!   I’d be very thirsty after a long run and would often feel sick after drinking water, not to mention bloated.  This is not the case now at all.  When I do a small fast I find myself incredibly refreshed throughout.  I have not met anyone who drinks this water who would be willing to go a day without it if they didn’t have to.  So, I’ve found foundation block #4, and that would be water.  Our bodies are comprised of water, mostly; why wouldn’t it be important after all?

For more information online, go to www.checkoutkangen.com, which is not associated with any distributor, or www.enagic.com.  My personal site is www.xanetplanet.info, which explores more the various household applications of the water.  The machine makes acidic waters, which disinfect without toxic chemicals, and strong kangen water (highly alkaline) which you don’t drink, but will emulsify oil and dirt effectively, and so forth.

For info about their use in Japanese hospitals, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvsDXjA4dzg   This is shocking but definitely worth seeing.

Many blessings on your healing journey, and of course,

Keep thinking for yourselves!

SPENDING OUTSIDE THE MACHINE

Posted by Janet Demeter on December 30, 2010

Spending Outside the Machine

Do you know of anyone who wants to change his/her diet?  Is his life on the line, fighting a killer disease?  Is it abhorrent to think of putting chemicals in your children that you can avoid, but that panicky feeling disappears with the idea that your doctor thinks your current choices are ok?  Would you buy the raw milk, but the ecologically friendly, “organic”, and warm-fuzzy-pastured-cow-pictures  with the much lower cost win you over every now and then?

The unfortunate fact is that most people do not want to spend their money on their health.  It must be covered by their insurance or prescribed by their doctor.  One could be facing another round of chemotherapy and radiation but unwilling to consider alternatives (not even replacements) because it could mean using their savings.

If you are reading these blogs, chances are you are already exceptionally open-minded and desiring to think for yourself, collect information and ideas to compare for yourself.  Even so, the pull of the machine can be uncannily strong.  By “The Machine”, I mean that fast-paced mechanism of commerce, marketing, mingled with the current system of insurance, health-care and the very real fabric of your personal life that can be so enmeshed that you are not completely aware of the actual values driving your most important choices.

In our current culture, there is a kind of underground railroad of information, passed person-to-person, regarding the treatment and prevention of illnesses.  However, it is not immediately available or obvious.  It requires a certain amount of desire and seeking for it to be found.  You can bring information to someone that may seem to need it, but the simple idea of it being outside the realm of insurance can stop things short.  Even simple changes in diet, requiring the purchase of real foods that cost more, can be too much of a deterrent for some people.  I find this frightening!  Almost as frightening as Monsanto’s campaign to hypnotize people into believing that corn sugar is the same as cane sugar.  Apples are the same as oranges.  That’s right, process them enough or genetically modify them enough and, voila!  Fake food!  It’s like the lady at the government office telling another woman that she ought to get her two year old son on the pasteurized, homogenized 2% milk rather than continue to drink breast-milk.  He’s not line-backer size, not high enough in the percentiles of obese kids across the country.  Perfectly healthy, but golly, he should measure-up to the Machine’s measuring stick.

That woman was determined not to need government assistance again.  I’m not saying this economy is easy, or life on Earth is obviously do-able with a family to support and going through hard times.  But even so, knowing one has the choice to be free, to have one’s health no matter what, no matter what the apparent cost…my goodness people!  It’s just money for crying out loud!  I should hope you’d spend it on your health and well-being!  Spending “outside the Machine” will comprise some of the most important decisions that we ever make.

Choose wisely and be happy.

Keep thinking for yourselves,

Part II “The Little Guy and Raw Milk in California”

Posted by Janet Demeter on July 19, 2010

This is the latest on my attempt to start a dairy coop, for raw milk of course, in California. I’ll preface it by saying that Organic Pastures is a fine dairy and we’re fortunate to have such a raw milk advocate and fighter in Mark McAfee. It’s stunning to see what’s happened just in the last few months in California concerning raw milk.

First, due to the FDA scares back East, the insurance companies of larger food stores such as Whole Foods Market will no longer cover their clients if they carry raw milk. Hence, there are fewer health food stores where you can obtain it. You can order UPS from Organic Pastures; you get a rock-bottom price of $6.50 per half-gallon, that’s right, $13.00/gallon is a rock-bottom price out here, but you have to pay the shipping charges of course. Organic Pastures is having some troubles right now with distribution charges. I was told that I would have to re-do my paperwork from 2 1/2 months ago and read an affidavit before signing the papers if I wanted to be kept on-file for future distribution. So I read the affidavit. Apparently in 2007 and 2008 there had been some illegal interstate shipping going on, and a too-cavalier attitude with an undercover FBI agent. I presume the company is now experience a legal squeeze of the financial variety. Hence they are unable to take on new distribution points. I thought it was rather odd that a company driven to go interstate couldn’t go an extra 12 miles for us!

Well that may be just the problem. The beauty of being able to get fresh, raw milk locally and support your local farmer is the endangered creature itself. I don’t know if it’s the ego-rush of running something big, heck I don’t know that half of it; but you simply cannot, in a world hostile to the freedom of the individual, lash-out inappropriately at the powers-that-be, be they right or wrong. I truly believe that desire, positive community spirit, and persistence (God help me) are the key to getting what you want. So what did we do? We went to the only competitor in the state, Claravale Dairy; I had assumed they weren’t as communicative with the public and boy was I wrong! One email inquiry of my difficulty and they were happy to help us!

Claravale Dairy is a family dairy founded in 1927 with a stellar record for quality that rivals any in the country. They will deliver fresh-from-the-cow milk to us weekly. Below is the letter to the editor that I wrote to the Acton-Agua Dulce Country Journal. Lovely Lillian, editor/owner of the paper, forever helpful, published my letter about Collette Cassidy, owner of Claravale Dairy, coming to see us with samples and a butter-making demonstration. The results of our Saturday meeting will be covered in Part III. Wish us luck!

To the Residents of Agua Dulce, Acton, and Neighboring Communities:

You are invited to attend the first General Meeting of the Agua Dulce Dairy Coop on Saturday, July 24that
1pm at a private residence in Agua Dulce. We have been trying to work with Organic Pastures Dairy to
deliver to us for the last few months, but after submitting our paperwork we were informed that Organic
Pastures is currently not adding on new distribution points for a variety of reasons. So, we contacted
Claravale Dairy, and owner Collette Cassidy said they would be willing and able to accommodate us with a
weekly delivery of real (fresh from the cow) milk. At the meeting, Collette will have samples for everyone
and also said that she’d be happy to take orders for those wanting milk at this meeting as well. The
distribution proper would start the following week. Please call Janet Demeter at 977-3125 for more
information.

Claravale Dairy has one of the best records of any dairy in the country for quality, freshness, and safety.
Today, the restrictions on raw milk are at an all-time high, with a real campaign from the FDA and Big
Agriculture and Chemical to squeeze-out the small dairies—especially back East. Here in California, the
larger stores such as Whole Foods have opted out of offering raw milk due to difficulties with the insurance
companies, as a result of this squeeze of bad press. One of the most important things we can do for our
health today is to have a direct relationship with the farmers that produce our food. Abundant Harvest
Organics, a local distributor of organic produce, is an excellent example of people trying to do just that for
our community. We wanted very much to find a way of providing fresh-from-the-cow milk to local families
who want/need it on a regular basis, and it’s finally happening!

Membership to the coop is free; all that is required is a registration form to be filled out. Claravale Dairy
will be offering us weekly, fresh from the cow: whole milk, skim milk, and cream. Their products come in
glass bottles, milk by the quart and cream by the pint, for optimum freshness. Visit
www.claravaledairy.com
. I will continue to invite friends and neighbors who sell eggs and other home-
made items to the weekly coop to offer the members. You are welcome to do so as well; just call the above
number. We hope very much to see you!

Many Blessings,

Janet Demeter

The Little Guy and Raw Milk in California, Part I

Posted by Janet Demeter on July 12, 2010

The Little Guy and Raw Milk in California, Part I

I began organizing a dairy coop here in Agua Dulce, CA some three months ago, before the discontinuation of raw milk in Whole Foods Markets and other larger stores.  We have a real consciousness and demand for it here.  Mark McAfee flew in April 18th to talk to our local MOMS Club and other interested parties, and we were a small group.  After his presentation, 3 of the moms out of 6 attending have switched their families to raw milk exclusively.

Through a local distributor called Abundant Harvest, who’s focus is mainly organic produce and O.P. Dairy products are “add-ons”, and through the local health food store that carries it, it runs $15 a gallon.  Through a buyers club it is available for $12 a gallon, a significant difference especially for families.  Organic Pastures promotes its buyers club with a minimum of $150 weekly of volume.  After 3 months I finally got a commitment of $225 before any volume would be added from the local Abundant Harvest deliverer, who would appreciate the proximity of the drop-off point to it’s customers in Agua Dulce, Acton, Palmdale and Lancaster, all up the 14 freeway.  After finally submitting our paperwork, we were declined.  We are some 15 mi from the 5 freeway, and close to the 14.  They said we were too far off their route to deliver.

Of course I was disappointed at first; I’d been excited about the prospect of helping to facilitate getting raw milk to people who needed it.  I have one family in Lake Hughes who just moved to California from Washington, where they had no problem getting raw cow or goat milk.  I had another gentleman willing to travel 30 miles for the coop, where we’d offer local neighborhood items like eggs and family farm produce, first-come first serve.  Then I thought about it for a while.

Alta Dena dairy does still produce some wonderful raw-milk cheese; I wonder if they’d consider, economically, selling a small portion of their volume as raw milk, at a competitive price, say $10 a gallon, for example.  I’ve sent an inquiry to Claravale Dairy, another fantastic dairy with a sterling record for quality, Jersey cow raw milk and milk products.  I don’t know if they have coops or buyers clubs, so that will be my next alternative.  However, what got me fired-up is this:  Organic Pastures Dairy is spending all kinds of energy on its goal of going Interstate.  How can 12 miles(from nearest drop-off point, Lassen’s) matter so much, then; the gas and refrigeration, a company that’s gaining over $1,000,000 increase in profit yearly?  Is the “Little Guy” and our families health really their first concern, the whole sales pitch that got us to buy in the first place?  It makes me wonder, just a little bit.

I’ll let you know what happens next for us, out here in Agua Dulce.

Keep thinking for yourselves,

Janet Demeter :)

It’s even in the horse feed!

Posted by Janet Demeter on June 13, 2010

Is there no escape from industrial waste?

Must it be in our food, and in our animal’s food?  If it’s in the horse feed, I wonder what most cattle, pig, and chicken feed has in it…the animals WE eat.

I recently had the good fortune to acquire a wonderful horse and the responsibility of keeping her companion as well for a friend of our family.

Sugar, the older mare, is having trouble keeping enough weight on so I wanted to supplement her diet of hay and small beet pulp mash with some rice bran and wheat germ oil.  Well, I haven’t bought horse supplements in over 20 years, not wheat germ oil at any rate, and was horrified to see the ONLY products on the shelf were mostly soybean oil.

You can’t get wheat germ oil, but you can get wheat germ oil “blend” and the first ingredient is soybean oil.  Well, there are only 2 ingredients so that means it’s at the very least 51% soybean oil.

Why on God’s Good Earth would I feed my horse soybean oil?

Big Agriculture doesn’t want to pay to have it’s waste disposed of when it can simply put it in the human food supply and the animals.  Do they really think we’re stupid?  Are most of us that unconscious?

I remember years ago, you didn’t have to ferret-out pure wheat germ oil or any other kind for that matter.  I’m going to complain to the feed companies who put their products on this mainstream feed stores shelves.  I hope other people do, too.  Soybean oil!  For a horse?  Nutritious?

The labels tout the nutritional value of the flax seed or wheat germ oil while it’s constitution is less than half of that particular oil!

I’m furious!

Hell will freeze over before I start feeding industrial waste products, and probably GMOs as well, to my horses.  Let’s let “health food stores” that carry products full of canola and soy oil know as well.  I’ve had it with the soybean oil!

It’s in the horse feed now!

Agua Dulce/Acton MOMS Club goes RAW!

Posted by Janet Demeter on April 22, 2010

On Sunday, April 18th 2010, the fledgling new MOMS Club in Agua Dulce/Acton, CA hosted a “Share the Secret” presentation with Mark McAfee.

Although the gathering was intimate, all who attended unanimously decided to start a buyers coop with Organic Pastures Dairy Co., one of the only distributors of raw milk in the state. Mark is one of the stars of the real food movement, and is enormously passionate about educating people about the facts concerning the “Two Raw Milks in America”, one intended for people and the other intended for pasteurization. He of course gives the facts concerning the nutritional value of raw milk vs. pasteurized milk product, and stresses the fact that we human beings are literally “bacterio-sapiens”, and the depletion of most all good bacteria, and the ignorance thereof, among other things, has largely contributed to the state of America’s depressed-immune-system-crisis.

I was thrilled to see people trying the milk who were formerly afraid of it! Mark does these presentations for free around California and the country. He flies into the local airport in his plane with presentation materials and samples of raw milk and raw colostrum (chocolate too-yummy!) and spends a good 2 hours being very thorough and answering as many specific questions as necessary. He has witnessed too many personal revolutions in health to be deterred from continuing this education. The government won’t acknowledge him, or let him speak in their forums, but privately, one person at a time, he is helping change lives for the better. For more information, go to www.organicpastures.com.

We do not have to be controlled by Big-Agriculture and Big-Chemical, and whatever other conglomerate oppressive powers that be that are out there. We do have choices but we must be bold in affirming them. Finding ways of having a direct relationship with your farmer is perhaps one of the best things you can do for your family, your community, and your beloved planet Earth.

Keep thinking for yourselves, and Happy Earth Day!

Food Addiction–”Ya think???”

Posted by Janet Demeter on April 5, 2010

It’s come to my attention that the medical establishment is finally seeing some results from animal studies, studying eating behavior patterns in particular, and concluding that our current obesity problem may be akin to an addiction of sorts. I say “of sorts” because some doctors are still hesitant to stand by such a bold statement, saying that addiction is a “loaded” term. I’m sure it’s not the first round of studies, but it IS significant that they are being published in public places where medical information interfaces with the community online, http://www.azcentral.com/health/news/articles/2010/03/28/20100328junk-food-addiction-may-be-real.html. Even more importantly, the former head of the FDA, David Kessler, is going public about this very important issue in a book coming out at the end of next month. He is not hesitant at all to admit having been a overeater, with a suit for every size. Becoming more inconspicuous these days are the “magic formulae” of the Food Industry of salt, sugar, and fat, devised and manipulated such that the junk food will be the most addictive to those so predisposed.

Fat still gets a bad rap. I don’t mean fake fats; I mean fats from real food like butter, liver, etc…the best possible sources of natural vitamin A, D, and Activator X. The fats involved with junk food are generally denatured vegetable fats, loaded with sugar and/or msg. Always, in the animal studies brought to the public in these articles which have gotten my attention, sugar is the number one addictive element. To be fat-phobic is generally accepted these days. However, if you want to take a look at eating disorders, REALLY, not only the compulsive overeaters that have lost the battle long ago of trying to hide their disease and are chronically ill, but the talented bulimics and mentally powerful anorexics who die sooner untreated, one might finally start to see that fat is not the culprit at all. Lack of the real thing in the diet, perhaps, is a strong factor. Refined sugars and grains, chemicals, vegetable oils that are industrial waste(cottonseed, rapeseed/canola/, corn and soy oils) and msg are more likely culprits than grass-fed lard, real butter, or the natural fats found in organically grown and grass-fed foods, that your body needs.

Sugar in the body edges out some important vitamins and their absorption. I am not an organic chemistry expert, but it doesn’t take a rocket-scientist either to figure out that, if you eat a lot of garbage, your body is going to crave the fats that make the absorption of vitamins and minerals possible. My compulsive eating career began when I was fourteen, and I am now forty-two, almost forty-three, and I am symptom-free as long as I do not make a habit of indulging in sugar or fake food. Fake food’s toxicity makes you crave more food! Your liver depleted and tired of processing more toxins needs your body to have more fat available! This has been my personal observation of myself and several other people on the path to healing naturally. I’ve been on every diet in the book, and from various eating disorder clinics and the one thing I’ve noticed is that I simply cannot indulge in sugar without certain consequences, whether they be a simple thought pattern, a feeling in my body, my emotions out-of-whack.

I’m absolutely thrilled that we are finally seeing, collectively, that this compulsive eating thing just may very well be an addiction! For years the only place I felt I could understand the desperation I saw in others that I felt in myself was in Alcoholics Anonymous, though I had not yet exhibited any alcoholic or “substance” abuse behavior. There were times that just the thought of whatever my binge-food was, at the time, would cross my mind and I WOULD ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO GO GET IT NOW. Insane! Totally insane. I am so blessed today that I am free from that and so many other self-destructive thoughts and behavior patterns. 25 years ago, though, I was painfully aware that there was nothing the medical establishment could do for me. I did have the feeling that my participating in their programs was somehow legitimizing my fight, though it was a dead end. The spiritual component or “part” of their programs was the only thing that kept me going, to be honest. And, to be honest, it is only there that the answer lay for me. I was dismayed in reading the above article, the link above, at the point where I clicked on one of their links that seemed to have more information about the subject; it sent me to a fancy clinic that I’m sure no average person could afford, but the medical establishment and insurance companies would be ecstatic if one could.

Kessler himself, in his book, “The End of Overeating: Taking Control of the Insatiable American Appetite”, examines in a scientific manner the chemistry of the brain and certain combinations of sugar, fat and salt that the food industry completely exploits. What he is examining is the process of addiction in the brain, except that we are not talking about illicit drugs, or alcohol even; we’re talking about cheap “foods” for which the public is constantly bombarded with advertising. Though we have people dying from obesity and it’s many, many complications, it’s still socially acceptable to eat this junk. Kessler was involved in the anti-cigarette and the food labeling campaigns during the Clinton years. What the food industry is doing seems to me to be worse than what many have complained the tobacco companies have done in the past. Control the food, you control the people, their thoughts, their decisions. His purpose with this book seems to be to make the public more aware of the problem and to provide a simple system whereby one might once again gain control over oneself if the “conditioned overeating” problem is affecting one’s life. I say it’s all because of fake food, and if you haven’t read Kevin Brown’s “The Liberation Diet” yet, you need to.

For information on the release of Kessler’s book, go to:

Anger and Spring Cleaning

Posted by Janet Demeter on March 6, 2010

Anger and Spring Cleaning

One of the emotions I have always been most afraid of is anger. I can even remember back to when I was about 5 years old, and a drawing with two side-by-side realities that I made of my mother. On one side, she’s pleasantly going about her business. On the other side, she is red and literally floating on hot air about 2 feet up. I’m 42 so I don’t think either of my parents had notably evolved input in their early lives about how to work with their feelings. It just wasn’t the order of the day! So, understandably, there’s a lot I personally have to sort out, and feel compelled to share with others because, as with the advent of the light-bulb, liberation from any major hang-up with energy flow is mind-boggling and life altering! Of course I want to share it!

Now that I’m a mommy and my children are just 4 and 18 months old, I’m getting to see just how well-adjusted I really am. Hah! I learn so much from these little ones; they’re amazing. They haven’t been taught all the hoo-hah about what’s real and what’s not real that I learned. I just hope I’m not teaching it to them too much with my flawed example! Being a parent makes me be a much more responsible and conscious participant in my own evolution as a human being. It shows me the love that I have for my parents all-the-more as well, and overwhelms me with the desire to resolve the normal, human issues of their time that limited them, in a conscious way, and for them too. I pray that my children never stop experiencing joy. I think that’s my most important goal as a parent, that with the magic of their imaginations staying alive.

Ok so where am I going with this? Anger gets a bad rap in our culture. Women and men in their own respective ways have issues with it. Boy, if no one got angry we’d sure have a lot of depressed, miserable people. That’s what happened to me to a certain extent, earlier in my life! Then what do you do when you finally start experiencing this seemingly alien beast? The problem is, in our culture, we’ve forgotten what it’s for. Change! Cleaning out the bad! Even Jesus got incredibly mad! Didn’t He blast all the money changers out of the temple with his anger? What about the “Wrath of God?” Goodness, we HAVE forgotten what it’s for! Sorry, I’d like to make a parallel reference to be politically correct with every religion on the planet but you don’t have to be a Christian, probably, to have heard of these things.

In the economy of an individual, energetically speaking, anytime you divert your energy or consciousness unnaturally, or forcibly, it cannot seek its ground and will literally wreak havoc, slowly or quickly, on your mind, in your body, in your spirit until you recognize it. Granted, I am not referring to some techniques such as sublimation or other therapeutic processes used by individuals that possess proper balance and knowledge of such things. We, who are not gurus or in constant communion with our God (which would be nice), but those of us who are working towards improving our somewhat-out-of-whack existence, can be occasionally “thrown” by a pesky emotion. Words to the wise: “FEELINGS ARE YOUR FRIENDS”. Our emotions can be likened to be God’s amazing guidance system with which He’s blessed us. We just have to get over the “beating ourselves up” for having a human struggle every once in a while.

Anger can be seen as an enormous and life-shaking improvement compared to some yuckier feelings like depression and self-hatred. So for one who’s been experiencing those awful things, it can be a huge release. It can be a wake-up call, a red flag. Releasing anger is somewhat of a misnomer…oftentimes we must needs release our judgement of anger or whatever “it” is that is confining our understanding and our growth. What I’m talking about here is BALANCE. Anger is a manifestation of energy from a specific cause, usually a very simple one. We don’t always know what our emotions mean until they’ve flowed through us and we’ve done our improv for the day. If they are repeatedly NOT allowed to flow, the body often becomes the battleground. Hypertension, arthritis, gastrointestinal disorders, skin disorders, cancer! There are as many different ways of manifesting dis-ease or imbalance as there are people. Smoking? Drinking or drugging? Compulsive eating? Compulsively checking things, washing, spending? So often many of these behaviors begin simply as an attempt to feel better. This is when one needs to consciously find healthier ways of working with feelings.

I like to think of anger as God’s Spring Cleaning. I procrastinate a bit with things like that because they’re not always super pleasant to ponder, but boy it gets put into perspective fast. I did most of the unthinkables on that list, above, and found a lot of anger as soon as I let go of each vice. It is an important step in the process of healing, and in keeping a healthy ego.

Two authors (Actually 4! See if you can figure out this little math problem) and books come to mind that I enthusiastically recommend. One is the timeless “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay, and the other is “Ask and it is Given” by Esther and Jerry Hicks. Ms. Hay actually praises the latter book very highly. So if it seems a little too “far out” for you, just know that the marvelous Louise Hay thinks it’s fabulous, not just me. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll get back to my spring cleaning.

The Brick Wall

Posted by Janet Demeter on February 16, 2010

Ever Talk to a Brick Wall?

In considering a career stretching out before me into the future, I feel I’m moving forward on faith and little else. I’m very fortunate to have excellent health at this point in my life, and I’ve learned quite a bit–mostly through hard knocks, panic, necessity, or a combination thereof. My life doesn’t resemble what it was even a decade ago. I’ve found some things, not only from my own experience, but actually in great abundance in the experiences of others in their quest for wellness and happiness, that really do work. The Liberation Wellness plan and the research of Dr. Weston Price for two, and some specific whole-food supplements that I cannot, will not, live without. I have come across various individuals, at varying stages of disease of complaints about their weight and over-all health, the very things I’ve heard recovered and thriving individuals describe having survived and yet, when I make specific suggestions, even close friends and relatives–it’s like it goes in one ear and out the other!!! Even simple home remedies that are amazing, and cheap! So, what the heck is this resistance?

I’ve come to the conclusion that some people don’t really want to change or get well; somehow the habit of complaining or of having no control is comforting to them, perhaps. Many of us have been conditioned to think very negatively about life, about the nature of reality, about their ability to have a positive impact on their own lives without a prescription from their doctor or the blessings of the AMA or the Food and Drug Adminstration. For some people, perhaps it is frightening or even shameful to think that all along, one actually does have the ability to affect one’s own destiny. Really, though, it’s not that bad! We’re all human for goodness sakes! And it really is, for goodness sake, that we’re human.

In the last 2 years I’ve watched my mom’s true love die, a dear friend get bad news, confirm the news, now go through the treatment and finish it before considering doing anything for herself, now suffering terribly when there are at least 2 things one can do for this particular disease that have a much higher efficacy rate than the medical treatment, and can be used with it concurrently to support the body, and are safe…I’ve seen terribly severe damage from cholesterol drugs so that the insurance companies would be happy. Would any of these people listen to me???

I’ve been talking to the wrong people, perhaps, but of course you want to help people who are close to you. That’s the toughest of all. I’m finding I’m having to continually keep turning all this over to God again, again, and again. It’s teaching me that I want to help and spread the good information very, very much and that it’s the right path for me. It’s teaching me I better know my stuff and not mind the Brick Wall too much. It seems sad, but it’s a choice. I just hated watching one man deteriorate over a the WHOLE YEAR when he chose to wait for the doctors to really look at his case seriously. When they did he had a week to live. My friend could have immune system support with a treatment that’s been used in Europe over 50 years and a supplement available around the world at wholesale prices, that has been shown to eradicate this disease 60-100% in a recent Harvard Medical School study, not to mention all the people continuing to personally chime-in with amazing reports, spoon-fed and easy to find on one’s own.

So I’m happy to keep trying to find better ways of ferreting out information, working with other people, and I’m thrilled to be with this organization! I’m becoming very passionate about raw milk, starting a buyer’s club where I live so people don’t have to pay $20 a gallon for it. Real food should be available to us. But we have to demand it! That’s it, we have to really want great health and believe in happiness. I’m committed to working towards raising consciousness about real food and whole foods in the American People. I believe in the American People; I’m 12th generation colonist and fiercely loyal to our freedoms, particularly freedom of thought. I always want to come from the position of, “Here is this information; you might not get it any other way than word-of-mouth, from others who have already benefited, and with science to back it up. It’s up to you! You have the freedom to choose this if you’d like!” I think this is the worthy use of the First Amendment; there are so many abominations of it these days, but I digress.

I have to remind myself that I, myself, was “unreachable” for many, many years. “No one” could help me, literally. Only time, a few strong voices of encouragement and love, and finally, the realization that I would have to become the person that I always needed, was the way to wellness for me. Perhaps getting out of my comfort zone, now, and being willing to plan, help, and commit to whatever inspirations I’m lucky to get, will be liberating for me, fulfilling and healing, and strangely enough what finally allows help to get to certain people who otherwise might not get it. It will all be so worth it, and it already is. I’m finally finding other people in the world that have similar priorities, feelings about life on planet Earth, and the “Brick Wall” is turning out to be a metaphor for whatever is between the undiscovered treasures within, and my current and questioning consciousness…mirrored in others that I think I have to reach. It’s not about me, it almost never is. Again, I’m reminded to leave the results to God and get out of the way!

So in a round about way, writing this to you all has improved my feelings significantly and I thank you. I think there are probably many of us who would love to help others and occasionally feel the frustration of talking to a Brick Wall. For me, I know I take it entirely too personally, and there’s probably a lot more going on behind it(The Wall) than I could ever imagine–nor is it any of my business, really. But no one I know likes knowing a loved one is suffering.

So for now, for all of us, including myself, just do the best you can, and don’t stop carrying the message no matter what. You’ll be a life-line for somebody!

Keep thinking for yourselves,

Janet Demeter :)
